Zumba Gold uses latin and contemporary music for a low impact but high energy class. Dance skills are helpful but not necessary for the choreographed moves, including lots of hips and shoulders. This class is designed for those who don’t wish to stress their joints, but still want a good cardio workout.

An hour long class, no previous yoga experience rquired; as the name implies, mostly stretching in a safe yet effective manner, with a couple balance poses and a little breath-work mixed into the session. Each class ends with a 10-15 minute Savasana, or relaxation.
Cycling classes focused on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery leading the group through routines designed to simulate different terrain and situations similar to riding a bike outdoors. Each participant has the ability to exactly control their level of intensity to suit their ability or fitness level while enjoying a group atmosphere making spinning class a great fit for anyone.
This class is a form of cardio-vascular endurance distinguished from other types of aerobic exercise by its use of an elevated platform (the step). The height can be tailored to individual needs by inserting risers under the step. Occasional low and/or high impact moves incorporated into the class such as burpees, plank jacks, jumping jacks, etc.
This class utilizes interval training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. We utilize a variety of interval training protocols and focusing on both strength and cardiovascular training.
Strength training class caters to all levels of fitness. It is taught with the philosophy of muscle confusion. So each class is different. One day it might utilize pilates balls, mats or step benches, with or with out dumbbell or barbell weights.
Yoga Level 2:
Some yoga experience strongly suggested; An hour long Hatha inspired class, focusing on proper and safe alignment, cultivating stronger, longer muscles in a vinyasa format (matching breath with movement). This class ends with a 10-15 minute Savasana.
NIA is a fusion-fitness class that combines 3 forms of dance, 3 forms of martial arts, and yoga. Done barefoot, it is low impact, but with many large moves definitely elevates the heart rate! It can be done at various levels, and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
A 45 minute strengthening class, no experience required however it is suitable for any level of fitness. The session consists of 8-10 timed exercises, repeated 3 times. It is self paced and low impact, strongly focusing on safe and individual proper alignment. Participants may use weights or not, depending on an individuals needs/level of fitness. Lesson plans are repeated 4 weeks in a row, targeting different muscle groups but always including core work.
Carrie has been instructing Group Fitness for 29 years. She started her group fitness teaching in Seattle at Bally's Pac West, where in 1991 she was awarded "Instructor of the Year". She has vast experience in teaching Hi/Low Cardio, Step Cardio and Strength Training classes. She has been certified in ACE and IDEA. Carri has been a certified Yoga teacher from the Mount Madonna Center in California since 2005. She enjoys the safe version of Hatha yoga and teaches levels ranging from first time student to intermediate. She has been teaching Hatha yoga consistently ever since and has over 150 hours of continuing education over the past eight years.
A certified personal trainer through International Sports Science Association and a certified Spinning Instructor with Mad Dogg Athletics since 2009, Leisa has been working with clients of different ages and levels of fitness through group classes. She enjoys developing challenging and fun programs that will help people reach their goals and improve their overall health. She takes great delight in seeing her clients covered in sweat, completely exhausted, smiles on their faces as they “CRUSH” their goals and prove to themselves, they ARE stronger than they thought they were. Leisa has been a resident of Sandpoint since 1996; she has completed the CHAFE 150, the Scenic Half Marathon, and the Hells Gate Duathlon. She enjoys meeting new people, anything outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.
Pam is a certified P90X Live Instructor as well as a CrossFit Instructor. She has coached as a personal trainer for the past two years and her programs are based on strength conditioning and aerobic training. She has ten years experience competing in mud runs, Spartans, duathalons, marathons and participating in group fitness classes (spinning, body pump and step). She recently competed and placed 4th in the Empire Classic Figure Competition 2015 in Spokane, WA. Health and fitness is a passion of hers and she loves sharing her knowledge.
Rebecca is licensed in Zumba, Zumba Step, Zumba Burst, Zumba Core and Zumba Glutes. She is currently working on her strength training and conditioning certification and has a deep passion for staying fit and healthy! Rebecca was born and raised in Sandpoint and has 4 children.
Jill has danced passionately for as long as she can remember. She began by studying ballet, tap and jazz, danced her way through community and high school musicals, and continued in college, adding modern dance and Tai Chi. Dance classes never stopped, and when aerobics hit in the ’80’s, she added that to her routine. She found yoga in the ‘90’s, and fell in love with NIA in 2000. She got her NIA certification in 2005, and Zumba certification in 2009. She subsequently added Zumba Toning (2010)and Zumba Gold (2012) to her resume. In addition to dancing daily, Jill is an Individual, Marriage, and Family Therapist in private practice, and mother to three children. Her other passions are skiing, standup paddle board, and food!
Kristine grew up here in Sandpoint and is now, with her husband, is raising her three children in this gorgeous area! She is an INSANITY certified instructor and loves helping people reach their potential. Along with fitness, Kristine has a passion for music and is the worship director of a local church. She has a contagious personality and a deep passion for people.
